Sandra and Deidre Lindsey are climbing into the airplane in anticipation of their first sky dive from Majors Field. They have been trained by master parachutist Hank Schrader and B. G. Coker of Skydive Tandem Greenville.
First time skydivers meet at the rustic log lodge just east of the field for an hour and a half of form completion, training and equipment fitting. A short van ride takes them to the airport where they are familiarized with the aircraft. They then go over the exit procedure prior to their first jump over the oak woods of central Hunt County.
The divers jump from two miles and experience almost 40 seconds of free fall before the parachute opens. They will then get to fly the chute for three or four minutes before coming to a safe landing at Skydive Lodge.
The airplane can take two tandem teams up to jump altitude. All exit the aircraft and the jump masters with thousands of jumps under their belts safely guide the new skydiver to a soft landing.
