Mitzi Money resides just north of Greenville near the hamlet of Kellogg/Merit.  She is a self-admitted nerd and political junkie.  She represented Hunt County as one of the delegates to the Republican Convention held in Cleveland, Ohio a few weeks ago.  Money was one of ten delegates chosen from the Texas 12th Congressional District that covers counties of Hunt to Texarkana down to Kaufman.  Delegates are not paid and must pay travel to Cleveland, hotel rooms, food and other expenses incurred during the convention.

Mitzi said the business of the political convention does not appear on the evening broadcast when each party is disparaging the other.  No, Mitzi went to Cleveland to work for us at home.  She did not go to party.  The business of the convention begins at breakfast when rules are hammered out and compromises are made. One Texas Senator of yore said “conventions can be equated with a sausage factory.  The process is not savory but the end product is generally tasty”.

East Texas supported Ted Cruz and they kept their votes for Ted until it was obvious that Senator Cruz did not stand a chance.  Donald Trump was not the East Texas Districts  second or even third choice.  After many sessions of political wrangling that involved everything from printers breaking down, fourteen hour days, and mandatory rules that smelled of old rigging; a candidate surfaced and that is Donald J. Trump for President of the United States.
