Ora Steward Webb Jensen passed from this world on Saturday, August 8, 2015 in Plano, Texas. Ora was a lifelong resident of the Dallas area. She was born April 29, 1927, the daughter of Charles and Willa Steward. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and Baylor University and played tennis at both, a talent and passion she would practice until late in her life.
At Baylor, she met and married Gorman Webb. They were married until Gorman’s death in 1984. They raised three children: Jeff Webb, Greg Webb, and Jenna Webb Hill. During this marriage, Ora was a kindergarten teacher and an indispensable partner to Gorman’s corporate work in the oil industry (European Shell employees demanded their trip to the US include Ora’s homemade enchiladas). She was also a wonderful mother.
After Gorman’s death, Ora reunited with high-school sweetheart Gerald Jensen. They were married May 18, 1987. Their 29 year relationship included travel to Europe to retrace Gerald’s WWII movements, to Africa where they rode hot air balloons over the Serengetti, as well as trips to the Amazon and the beaches of Mexico.
Ora was a strong woman, a loving and supportive wife in two wonderful marriages, an athlete (learning to play golf and snow ski in her 50’s), and a very lucky gambler (a skill she taught her grandchildren before they could tie their own shoes). But most of all she was a proud, enthusiastic, loving advocate for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss the glint of her beautiful blue eyes, her big-hearted laugh, irrepressible optimism, constant encouragement, and the love they all shared with her.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in her memory to The North East Texas Children’s Museum 2501 Highway 24, Commerce, Texas 75428.
