Carandal Hale was named Mr. Texas Football last week. This award is presented by Wells Fargo Banking. It is given to the top high school football player in the State of Texas on any given week during football season. The player is nominated through a poll published in Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine. Carandal was picked by his peers, family and members of the Hunt County community as Mr Texas Football. Many recipients of this award have gone on to play for universities throughout the nation and the National Football League teams.
When you first meet Carandal you notice that he does not seek notoriety for his accomplishments. Hale desires to go on to college and with luck the Air Force Academy. After the university, he wants to become an entrepreneur and a role model for the generations that follow his steps.
Greenville Lions Athletic Director, Marvin Sedberry, says Carandal is a “person that leads by example”. Carandal’s calm demeanor motivates other players and students to excel in everything that they do. Coach Robert Woods, Greenville Running Back Coach, says “Carandal is one of a kind. We are proud that he was named Mr. Texas Football”.
The City of Greenville and the County of Hunt are proud of Carandal’s state wide recognition as Mr. Texas Football.
