Art Greenhaw, Grammy award- Winning artist and producer, is the leader of the Light Crust Doughboys. He and Senator Bob Duell performed for the Daybreak Rotary Club Thursday morning.

The band was formed in 1931 by future two-time Governor of Texas, Pappy O’Daniel, when he was general manager of Burrus Mills, of Ft. Worth.  The Light Crust Doughboys originally formed to sell flour soon brought new names to the music genre known as Western Swing.  Bob Will, Smiley Burnett, Gene Autry were all famous names that played in the band in the 1930’s.

Times changed and people moved on.  Bob Wills moved to Tulsa after being fired from the Doughboys and Pappy O’Daniel moved into politics.  All of the original members of the band have left this terrestrial ball.  The band, on the other hand, has been around for 85 years and may well be the longest living band in history of recorded music.
