Lois Rae Cornelius, 75, of Poetry went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 23, 2015 in Rockwall. Funeral services celebrating Lois’ life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan with Rev. Tom Moore will be officiating. Interment will be immediately following at Camp Ground Cemetery in Poetry. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 28, 2015.
Lois was born on September 26, 1939 in Irene, Texas. She is the daughter of the late John Shannon Willis and Azilee Irene Parish Willis. She was raised and educated in Ft. Worth. Lois married Billy Cornelius on August 7, 1970 and they lived in Duncanville, Junction City, Kansas and Midlothian, Texas before settling in Poetry 34 years ago. She entered LVN school at the age of 40 and graduated Top of her class with a 4.0 grade point average. She worked for several nursing homes before going to work at Terrell State Hospital before retiring in 2006. She was awarded a Civil Recognition Award from the city of Terrell, Texas which is the highest award presented to an individual. She was also preceded in death by a son Buck Cornelius; grandsons Brian Casey Yudizky, Harold Allen Gross Jr., Tim Brown Jr., granddaughter Ashley Lois and sister Ruby Sue Younger. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, canning and loved to read.
She is loved and will be missed by her husband Billy Cornelius of Poetry; sons Billie Joe McCracken II of Azle, Texas, Roger Dale McCracken and wife Pam Moore of Quinlan, Shannon Dean Smith of Houston; daughters Denise Cynthia Moore and husband James of Poetry, Pamala Kay Lois and husband Richard of Baden, Pennsylvania, Suzanne Armstrong and husband Charles of Terrell, Denise Hensley and husband Luther of Lampasas, Sherree Johnson of Lampasas; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
