It looks like drivers around eastern parts of Hunt County, particularly in the Campbell, Ardis Heights and Shady Grove areas, will likely be dodging construction zones as two overpasses in the eastern half of the county will receive a makeover of sorts.
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 13, at the I-30/Lamar Street overpass. TxDOT reports that the bridge will be raised and bearing pads will be replaced on the overpass. The overpass will be closed during this construction period, which is scheduled to wrap on August 4th.
Perhaps the more difficult closure to deal with, though, will be the I-30/Farm-To-Market-Road 513 overpass, where the bridge rail will be upgraded beginning Wednesday, July 15. The bridge rail upgrade will require closure of the bridge/overpass, as well as daily lane closures along I-30 below the overpass due to the potential of falling debris from demolition.
While lane closures on I-30 will be set up and removed on a daily basis, Farm-to-Market-Road 513 will remain closed at all times during the bridge rail upgrade.
The press release from TxDOT reminds motorists driving through these zones: “Motorists who travel in this area frequently are asked to find another route across I-30, pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, obey flaggers and reduce their speed. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.”
